1. Have you heard of us?
Established in 2001, as a non-profit organization and charity; our volunteers
assist frail, low income seniors by providing low cost transportation.
A) To attend medical appointments
B) To visit family and friends in hospital
C) To shop
2. What kind of time commitment is necessary?
If a person can volunteer as little as 3 Hours at a time, during the week,
between 8-5, it would help us get one senior to an appointment and back.
Call us anytime at 780 732-1221!
3. Who can be a volunteer driver?
A) Professional drivers (bus or truck) who have days off during the week
B) Students (over 18)
C) Teachers (who have the summer off)
D) Retirees
E) Shift Workers
F) Flex time Workers
G) Anyone with the time
4. Why would I volunteer to drive a senior?
A) You might know someone who could benefit from this service
B) You meet fun, knowledgeable people (elders as members using the
service and other volunteers)
C) You are helping someone in the community stay living independently!
5. Do seniors pay the drivers?
The seniors buy gas tickets from SATS@ $7.00 each ( going up soon) and
one ticket is used per trip, for a trip under 2 hours or 2 tickets for a longer or
far away ride trip. The volunteer driver then hands in the gas tickets and is
reimbursed $10.00 per ticket, to offset their gas and vehicle costs.
6. I work from 8-5, Monday-Friday, how can I help you?
We need to fundraise continuously; you can help us a great deal to fundraise
more successfully or you can donate! We can give you a tax receipt!
7. Aside from cash or cheque donations, what other kinds of donations
would benefit SATS?
A) We hold a silent auction at our Grandparents Celebration, so donations
of items that can be silent or live auctioned off are always welcome. We sell
tickets to the Grandparents Celebration, in September so individuals or
groups can enter the events.
B) We host a yearly Walker-a-thon at Londonderry Mall where walkers get
pledges to walk either 1 or 2 kilometres.
C)We have volunteer appreciation events, so gift cards that can be
redeemed are always appreciated.
C)Donating your car via http://www.donateacar.com to benefit Seniors
Assisted Transportation Society.
D) You can always donate using a credit card through
www.canadahelps.org.
