 Since
2001, Seniors Assisted Transportation Society of Greater Edmonton
(S.A.T.S.) has been offering safe and affordable transportation
to seniors with the assistance of our volunteer drivers.
By the age of
80 years old, 72% of seniors are living without a family member
nearby and find public transportation very challenging. Most are
living independently in their own home, lodge or apartment and they
often rely on services such as S.A.T.S. to retain this independence.
Seniors have
been the pillars of our society and play a very important, unique
and valuable role in our community. S.A.T.S. and their volunteers
provide seniors with the support and respect they deserve.
IMPORTANT
NOTICE FOR SATS MEMBERS!
SATS has
had to increase the price of the Volunteer Driving Ticket
to $15 effective immediately! Unfortunately, SATS
has had numerous cost increases over the past few years that
we did not pass onto the members until funding received by
SATS could no longer cover the increased costs. Existing $10
gas tickets will be honoured until no longer available.
Volunteer drivers
will continue to receive $10 for any 2 hour trip or less and
the remaining $5.00 paid will be applied to the administration
of the program. This covers all associated costs in order
to run the program; such as obtaining, scheduling and supervising
volunteer drivers, along with fees associated with security
clearances and abstracts.
We apologize for
the required fee increase but had no option other than the
inevitable. |

Almost
free access to city of Edmonton leisure activities.
The
City of Edmonton is offering almost free or 75% off the
cost of the program to those whom earn under $22,170.00
a year. These passes include free access to recreation centres
like pools and almost free access to Fort Edmonton, Valley
Zoo and Muttart Conservatory, for example. If this is for
you or someone you know, please call 496-4918 for an explanation
and/or an application. SATS can help with the details of
the application,
