About
Us
We have been serving the Edmonton community since 2001; offering
safe and affordable volunteer driven transportation to seniors.
Our mission is to provide transportation support by driving frail
and needy seniors to and from their vital appointments in the Greater
Edmonton area so as to enhance their independence and quality of
life.

Who
can be a member?
The older senior, usually in the age group of 80+, walking still,
may be with a cane or walker, and is on the low income threshold
with net income varied between $22,700 and $31,325. For the senior
couple, the net income varies between $36,900 and $62,650. Contact
S.A.T.S. office to obtain a membership
application form if you are considering becoming a
member.
How
to become a member?
If you think you qualify for membership, contact
S.A.T.S. office to obtain a membership application
form.
A social worker
staff or an authorized volunteer representative from S.A.T.S. will
provide a membership application to you and set up an appointment
with you to help you fill in and/or review the contents of the application
form only if we have volunteer resources available to support you
at the time of your request.
In case we do
not have adequate volunteer resources to support you, S.A.T.S. office
will obtain your name and contact details and place you on a waiting
list. You may call S.A.T.S. office on any week day between 10am
and 4pm to enquire about the current status of the waiting list,
if any.
The membership
application will be provided and assessed on the order of priority
of waiting list by considering factors such as age, income, support
from family/community, level of mobility, lack of transportation,
health, safety and other essential needs.
Once we approve
your membership application, you need to pay $20 towards the Annual
membership fee for 12 months period starting from July to June.
The membership can be renewed every year by paying $20 on or before
the month of June. If you are paying the membership fee for the
first time, the fee will be calculated on a pro-rated basis at the
rate of $2 per month for the period starting from the month you
start until the month of June.
How
do we support your transportation need?
You will call S.A.T.S. office to book an appointment at least 3
days in advance. Also you need to purchase an adequate number of
volunteer driving tickets in advance from S.A.T.S. office depending
on your transportation needs.
Each volunteer
driving ticket costs $10. You need to give this $10 volunteer driving
ticket to the volunteer at the end of the trip for a return trip
under 2 hours from home to back home again. For any time over 2
hours, 2 volunteer driving tickets must be given to the volunteer
for the ride.
You can book
maximum 2 rides a week and rides are from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. We
drive on weekends as well.
We will contact
a volunteer driver from our list of approved volunteer drivers.
The volunteer drivers are approved by S.A.T.S. by considering their
availability, service mindedness, clean driver record, police clearance
and a few other factors. Please remember our S.A.T.S. volunteer
drivers cannot under any circumstances book rides, accept cash or
purchase volunteer driving tickets. Also, please note that all the
parking costs are the responsibility of the customer.
Thank
You for thinking of S.A.T.S. Volunteer Driving.
We think you will enjoy the volunteer drivers as we do!
We wish you pleasant and safe rides in the community.
